Dialysis routes are the hardest work an NEMT bus does: the same riders three times a week, tight appointment windows, and a lift that cycles all day. Best Buses For Sale is a family-run dealer in Huntington, New York, and we sell reconditioned wheelchair buses built for that kind of recurring medical transport, delivered on our own flatbed trailers.
What Matters in a Dialysis Bus
- A lift that holds up: dialysis runs put more cycles on a lift than almost any other route. We test every lift, its manual backup and its interlock before a bus is sold.
- Enough wheelchair positions: count your peak shift, not your average. Our buses range from 2 to 10 wheelchair positions, and on most the seats fold up to make room.
- Complete securements: every position should have its floor tracks or anchors plus lap and shoulder belts.
- Strong A/C and heat: riders coming off treatment feel heat and cold more. Check front and rear systems on full.
- Matched units: identical buses make training, parts and backups simpler. We often have matched pairs and fleets.
Rules Depend on Your State
Medicaid dialysis trips usually run through an NEMT broker, and each state sets its own vehicle rules, inspections and licensing. See our New York ambulette page, our State Buyer’s Guide and our NEMT buses page, and confirm with your broker before you put a bus in service.

Dialysis Transport FAQ
How Many Wheelchair Positions Do I Need for Dialysis Routes?
Plan for your busiest shift. Smaller operators often start with 4-position buses; larger contracts use 6 to 10 positions, with seats folded to make room.
Do I Need a CDL to Drive a Dialysis Bus?
Under federal rules, not if the bus is designed for 15 or fewer people, including the driver, and is under 26,001 lb. Some states and NEMT programs set their own lines, so check yours.
Can You Supply a Matched Fleet?
Yes. We regularly have matched pairs and sets, and we buy nationwide to fill fleet orders.
Do You Deliver?
Yes, anywhere in the U.S. on our own flatbed trailers, so buses arrive without highway miles on them.
