Best Buses For Sale is a family-run used bus dealer in Huntington, New York. We deliver anywhere in Florida on our own flatbed trailers.

Why Buy a Reconditioned Bus for Florida

Florida scores just 1.7 out of 10 on our road-salt rust scale, so Florida buyers rightly expect a clean underbody. Our buses already meet that bar: we buy them nationwide from outside the Salt Belt. Florida is hard on a bus in other ways, with heat, humidity and long A/C runtimes, so every bus is driven by Manny and reconditioned before it is sold, with the work done on what he finds, not a checklist that skips the expensive fixes.

What Florida Buyers Need to Know

  • Licenses: a regular Class E license covers a shuttle under 26,001 lb designed for 15 or fewer people, including the driver. A bus designed for 16 or more needs a CDL with a passenger endorsement.
  • Wheelchair buses: transit, paratransit and Commission for the Transportation Disadvantaged provider buses fall under FDOT Rule 14-90, with a Florida-compliance lift label, posted lift instructions and annual safety inspections. CTD Rule 41-2 adds two-way communication. Some counties, such as Broward, also license NEMT vehicles.
  • Registration and inspections: no emissions testing and no periodic state safety inspection. Out-of-state vehicles need a VIN verification. Some counties, such as Miami-Dade and Broward, license for-hire vehicles.
  • Sales tax: 6% state tax plus a county surtax on the first $5,000. 501(c)(3) organizations and churches with a Consumer’s Certificate of Exemption (DR-14), and government buyers, are exempt.
  • Grants and NEMT: FTA 5310 senior and disability bus grants run through the FDOT Public Transit Office. Medicaid NEMT runs through the Statewide Medicaid Managed Care plans and their vendors, such as MTM and Modivcare.
